In depth

Verdict

GILT EDGE GIRL and Riflessione both race under a penalty after winning last time out last week, but we think the first named there can overcome the extra six pounds, but another to come into calculations is Raimond Ridge. It does look very competitive though. The one doubt about Gilt Edge Girl would be whether she'd prefer it a little softer, but she's yet to finish out of the frame in her five races to date. This is her handicap debut, and she's got the advantage of a high draw, and with the good attitude shown to date, the positives outweigh the one possible negative. Riflessione seemed to be helped by a little rain having fallen when winning at Bath last time, but the ground was still similar to what we expect here. That was his first win though, and he's more exposed than Gilt Edge Girl. Raimond Ridge has to overcome a poor draw, but has proved himself to be versatile over trip and in differing conditions, finishing in the frame in his last seven outings. His return to turf last week at Thirsk saw him finish second when maybe it was a little too quick. Bold Tie makes his handicap bow, and is the least exposed with this just his third run and first since winning in November. He may need the race though. It could be a lively betting heat, and our preference is for Gilt Edge Girl.
