    Verdict

No one could begrudge Vainglory a first victory of the season as he was just touched off in a better race at Salisbury on Wednesday under regular pilot Laura Pike. David Simcock's top weight must be thereabouts again if that hasn't taken too much out of him but NORMAN ORPEN looked much improved back over this trip at Sandown at the start of the month and is fancied to enhance what should be a profitable afternoon for followers of Kieren Fallon. Moynahan doesn't win very often but is well handicapped at present and is likely to be in the firing-line, while Guilded Warrior is 3lb lower than when successful 12 months ago though the race looks a lot more competitive this time around. Bath winner Jewelled was second off this mark at Yarmouth next time but faces tougher opposition now.
