Verdict

Not much for us to go on in this maiden contest, where the suggestion is KRISTOPHER JAMES to get the better of Cool Strike and Longboat Key. The latter is the preferred runner of two entered by trainer Mark Johnston, and starts over this nine furlongs, suggesting that not too much speed has been shown at home and that stamina will be his forte. Even so, the yard continues to go well and this lot aren't the best bunch, so he may be able to make his mark. Cool Strike represents another yard having a great time of things in 2008 and the Halling gelding will surely be much better for a pleasing Folkestone debut last month, so look out for any market moves. Tobond should also come on for his Kempton debut, and Norwegian Dancer has had a nice break since a decent debut at Thirsk in August, so if he takes to the surface he too has chances. Despite all that Kristopher James has a fair bit in his favour. Mark Brisbourne's gelding went well over 7f at Chester on debut and is related to juvenile winners over similar trips to this. He should improve for that initial outing and although the draw is not hugely important over this trip he still has a good enough pitch to get the right position in the race, so Kristopher James is the one for us.
