Another open handicap can go the way of Qadar, with old-timer Bahamian Pirate, Maltese Falcon, and hat-trick-seeking Magic Glade just three for the shortlist. Maltese Falcon has finished a runner-up on his last three starts but should appreciate this step up in trip today and should go well if handling the surface on this, his first visit. However he doesn't have the best draw today and so is opposed. The selection beat Maltese Falcon back in January and is weighted to confirm those placings today. He has the plum draw and having been running consistently all winter, this course and distance winner gets the nod today. Bahamian Pirate showed that he gets this six furlongs when staying on well to win at Southwell last time out but this race looks trickier so he is opposed. Magic Glade has been impressive on his last two outings so he warrants respect although this step up in grade will certainly test him more, whilst Ripples Maid would be a threat if fit enough after a break. In an open contest, we will side with Qadar to make good use of his draw and get his head back in front.
