In depth

Verdict

Dubai Creek is a very likely improver for his debut last weekend, while Demeanour and Burma Rock both merit a fair bit of respect, but all three look vulnerable to debutant MUZO, who gets the nod. The Jeremy Noseda-trained colt cost 500,000 US dollars as a yearling, and is the son of a dual winner on turf in the States, and grandson of a Grade 1 winner over 10f, so he has the right sort of credentials to win what is a poor maiden, especially with the stable going well. Demeanour is another US-bred runner, and she has made the frame on five occasions from nine starts so far. Ed Dunlop almost got a handicap victory out of her here last time and now reverts once again to maidens. Burma Rock has seen a racecourse of seven occasions, making the frame three times, and is tried by Luca Cumani on this surface for the first time. He is rated a few pounds higher than Demeanour and there shouldn't be much to choose between them, though neither could be backed with confidence. Dubai Creek took a while to get the hang of things at Epsom but will be much better for the run and Mark Johnston is not hanging about in getting the gelding back out again. Market support would fuel confidence for those thinking of a wager. None of the other newcomers look likely to be taking gold here, and though there is hope for some improvement from At Wits End, preference is for Muzo.
