In depth

Verdict

The trio for the shortlist are WHAT A FELLA, Bold Ring and First Blade and the vote is given to What A Fella. Trainer Anne Duffield is in good form and What A Fella was only narrowly denied at Ayr last time when he chased home Andrasta. His high draw should not be too much of a problem today as he needs to be produced fast and late to win his races and with the cheek-pieces again fitted he looks the one to beat. Bold Ring had no luck at Newbury on Friday when she was denied a clear run but although she is effective over this trip, her best form is over 6f and on that basis we will take her on. First Blade is also running well but he is another who would be ideally served by an extra furlong. Jolly Ranch is the only course and distance winner in the field and connections will be hoping the return to this venue can spark her back into life after a disappointing effort at Bath last month. This is a race that lacks strength in depth and the vote goes to What A Fella.
