      Verdict

Latif, Distant Country and Jakarmi are three against the field in a competitive opener and the narrow vote is given to Latif. The selection ran well on turf last time out when third behind Augustine. The return to this surface looks sure to suit and with one of the better apprentices booked he looks the value bet in an open affair. Distant Country rates the main danger on his latest third behind Undeterred. However that was in a claimer and this looks more competitive and for that reason he is opposed. Jakarmi is another worthy of respect but he just gave the impression he was in thew handicappers grip when third behind Augustine last time and off top weight he again looks vulnerable. Musical Gift has the ability to go close but does not always like to use it. However he goes well at the track and could run well at a price if on a going day. Of the remainder Pauline's Prince is from a shrewd in form yard and is another to note in the market but consistency is not her strong point and with this in mind for the winner we return to Latif.
