In depth

Verdict

A shocker of a contest where we take Beginners Luck to follow up his recent Southwell success from Safari, Coffin Dodger and Ten Commandments. The selection has been going well in this sort of company just lately, with a short head defeat at Southwell preceding another placed effort and then that recent success. He just about sees out this trip and will be helped in doing so by this slightly faster surface, so with some confidence under his belt we take him to score. Safari may be the big danger, though has to prove she acts on the surface, this being her first try. Ron Hodges' filly is hardly in fine form, but she has arguably put in her best efforts on turf on fast ground, so she could go well here. Coffin Dodger drops back in trip and should be suited by that. He is another with claims, while Ten Commandments still has scope for improvement and sports first time blinkers here, which may help bring that about. But in an awful race, Beginners Luck is taken to prevail.
