Best Double has obvious claims on recent evidence but, along with Canina, Gerard Butler's filly has kept on finding at least one too good so preference is for Charming Ballet, who is taken to gain a deserved first success. The selection could hardly be better drawn than in the number one berth and with the drop back to the minimum trip likely to suit, Nick Littmoden's gelding gets the vote. Sands Crooner has shown ability but is held by Best Double on running here last time, while Deserving is open to more improvement than most of these but needs to if she is to win this. Gavarnie Beau looks to be going the right way and has to be considered along with Twinned, who has a chance on his best form but is not the most consistent of performers. Canina deserves to win a race and has to be respected with Eddie Ahern on board but Charming Ballet has every chance from box one and is taken to open his account.
