Verdict

Speculator has every chance returning from a lay-off having gone close at Goodwood in August and winning at Lingfield the last time he raced on the all-weather. A winner at Windsor, Fast Play failed to cope under a penalty last time and Airton is preferred on last month’s second over today’s trip at Newcastle. Mary Le Bow has won three times over shorter trips here but has something to prove over 1m4f, as does SKARA MAE. But the latter has plenty of scope on her handicap debut having placed over a mile at Chelmsford last time and Charlie Hills’ filly gets the nod.
