In depth

Verdict

Jacaranda can land the opener at the expense of Modaffaa and Rafteryshill. The selection ran so well on his racecourse debut for Phillip Hobbs when finishing second to Kanpai over course and distance. He was beaten six lengths that day but once defeat was on the cards he was not bullied about and more is still to come. Modaffaa has not been seen out since October 2004 when scoring at Ludlow in a bumper race. That alone proves he has ability even though it was possibly a below standard contest and any market moves should be noted. Raftershill has winning form between the flags and was a winner on his penultimate run. He did pull up last time out but his trainer has an uncanny knack of bringing back the best in his horses so he has to be respected. But for the winner we return to Jacaranda.
