Verdict

Walter De La Mare is becoming frustrating because he clearly has ability under both codes but his sole success over timber only came in selling company and recent runs on the Flat haven't been inspiring. At his best he'd be a main consideration and connections have booked the champion jockey but he isn't one for maximum faith. Table Bluff remains a maiden over timber but has gone well enough on each of his last three starts to play a leading role off a mark of 92 with trip and ground to suit and the claim of Nico De Boinville another plus. The sole win of Midnight Thomas came on the soft so TREND IS MY FRIEND is taken to follow-up a decisive Perth win for which he incurs no penalty. Nick Slatter maintains the partnership and he looks on a workable enough mark to post back-to-back successes.
