        Verdict

        Arabie looks the pick in a very open claimer, with Jazz Scene and Nanton the likely dangers. The selection contested a tough looking apprentice handicap at Goodwood last time, finishing well down the field behind James Caird. The ground may have been too soft on that occasion and he is much better judged on his previous effort at Sandown when chasing home Iffy. A repeat of that effort could be good enough here. Jazz Scene was successful at Haydock recently but does look up against it on official ratings. However he may still be capable of making the frame. Nanton has gone off the boil a little bit, but has strong claims if returning to his earlier form which included victories at Haydock and Nottingham. The pick of the others could be Wing Commander, but Arabie is well treated today and gets the vote.
