Verdict

The Mark Johnston-trained Real Cool Cat gets the verdict here ahead of Lake Carezza, Mafaheem and Xebec in a race where the betting might prove interesting reading. Real Cool Cat has yet to see the racetrack but, being by Storm Cat out of a Kris S mare, has to be of interest. As does the fact that he cots $110,000 and his trainer has chosen to introduce him to racing at a Grade 1 track. Turning to the others and Lake Carezza, who cost 110,000 guineas and hails from a good stable, Mark Johnston's other runner, Mafaheem, the sprint-bred Russiannightingale, Richard Fahey's Telegram Sam, Paul Cole's Xebec, who is a half-sister to five winners, and the unlucky Ripon third Pivotal's Princess look the best of them, although Lobengula, being from the dame family on his dam's side as Secreto and Istabraq, also produced some interest. As we say, though, watch the betting but, without the benefit of that knowledge - and maybe with it too - we are happy to side with Real Cool Cat.
