      Verdict

Mick Easterby has very few peers in races of this type and again looks the man to side with as Dance To My Tune sets out to extend a string of good efforts. Her stablemate Middlethorpe, who has been on the go since day-one of the season, can usually be relied upon to go close in these sort of races and, along with fellow in-form rivals Broughton Knows and Scott, is well worth considering as an alternative at the likely prices. Smart John and Night Sight are closely matched on their Ascot form and are others that will do their bit to make sure that this is a furiously competitive event. However, both will do well to concede so much weight in this company and others make more appeal. Scott creeps in near the foot of the handicap and, as a lightly raced individual, has scope for more improvement. He will do well to reverse recent form with Broughton Knows on these terms though, and may have to settle for a minor role today. The last mentioned is anchored by a 6lb penalty for winning at Lingfield a week ago and he will really need to be at the top of his game here. Combine the fact Easterby also has a recent form line to go on with that rival through Ego Trip and his case becomes even less compelling. In contrast to Dance To My Tune, whose recent efforts have all been commendable on face value. Closer inspection reveals that the daughter of Halling has been given a little bit too much to do near the finish in her last two appearances, so it will be no surprise to see Duran Fentiman make more use of her in early stages today - a tactic that can aid Dance To My Tune as she bids to get back to winning ways in a competitive finale at York.
