Verdict

Ted Durcan takes over in the saddle from an apprentice on Mappin Time making him of more interest, however BACHELOR KNIGHT represents a yard that have a good line of the early season nursery form and he is preferred to Orchid Street and Instructress. It took all of Paul Hanagan's might to get the selection home in front at Redcar where he was outpaced early before picking up well. That would be the main worry on a similar track but he is in good form and a 4lb higher mark won't be enough to stop him if he can lay up closer to the pace. Surely This Time was well-held on the same day as the selection's Redcar win and is now tried in blinkers, Lady Royale also tries the shades and is not ignored despite her winless profile, whilst Orchid Street broke her maiden tag in a weak Catterick maiden last time but as a result has not been harshly dealt with by the grader. Instructress shaped with promise at Warwick before winning narrowly at Windsor. That bare form probably needs improving on but the jockey booking is eye-catching and improvement could be forthcoming. Mappin Time completes the line-up and he should appreciate the return to five furlongs today. He got to within five lengths of Majestic Myles last time and is a contender however we will side with the latter's stablemate Bachelor Knight to win the finale.
