A very competitive opener on day two of the meeting and at the time of writing we have no knowledge of how the draw has worked out in the sprints on the first day, so without that information we will side with RIEVAULX WORLD, who gets the verdict over Ishetoo, Fathom Five and Judge 'n Jury. The last-named has to be taken very seriously, having won from a mark 6lbs higher than today's and also scored at Ascot last summer from just 1lb lower. All eight of his wins have come over this trip on good or fast ground and he should be very competitive. Fathom Five represents the in-form Chris Wall yard, and he ran on well to account for Rocket Rob at Epsom over this trip last time. He may come on for that run and from 3lbs higher he is feared. Ishetoo has not won in 13 attempts since a course and distance success almost a year ago. He has now slipped to 3lbs below that day's rating and goes on any ground with good in the description, and money for him should be taken seriously. Michael Jarvis has his string in superb form, which augurs well for another course and distance scorer in Russian Spirit, and now that he is returned to this shorter trip he can get closer than his last two starts over 6f, with a recent Goodwood run to blow off the cobwebs. Doncaster winner Tabaret has always looked best over further than this, while Jaconet has been climbing the handicap as a result of her form on the artificial surfaces and is now 9lbs higher than her best turf win. She is also best on faster ground, so we will take her on. Johannes can go well when fresh but needs a career best on official figures to win this, while Fol Hollow is on a winning mark and pops up now and again, though usually on good to firm. That leads us back to Rievaulx World. Kevin Ryan's four-year-old has over four lengths to find with Fathom Five on their Epsom running, for which he has been dropped 3lbs. Admittedly, his last win came some time ago on fast ground at Redcar, and the only good effort punctuating a poor run of form came here over course and distance on good ground when runner-up at this meeting last year. His trainer applies blinkers for the first time today, which is seen from a positive viewpoint, and now that he has dropped so low in the handicap, we could do worse than back him to pick up some prize money at a price.
