Verdict

Brian Ellison appears to hold a strong hand in this finale with both Artisan and ROYAL OPERA having scored over hurdles over the winter. The latter, not disgraced when back over a more suitable distance at Hamilton last time, could be the one today as Paul Pickard is one of the more accomplished apprentices riding here. Battery Power kept on well when second at Doncaster last Saturday and also enters the equation but Tricksofthetrade was beaten in a Catterick claimer earlier this month and this may be a bit short for Pokfulham nowadays. Beverley third King Of The Celts may be best of the rest as penalised Nottingham winner Hydrant has struggled to stay this far in the past and Teak, who was engaged to run at Haydock last night, has shown his best form on the Polytrack.
