          Verdict

          Mephisto has been all the rage for this feature handicap over the last few weeks and looks set to land this valuable prize, with Grampian, Jagger and It's The Limit chosen to fight for the place money. The selection is a typical Luca Cumani improving handicapper and the form of his two latest victories is of the highest quality. When successful at Newmarket in early July he beat Astrocharm and Always Waining, the runner has been victorious twice, once in listed company, and the third took a handicap by five lengths next time out. He is still on the upgrade and looks set to defy the hike in the weights. Jagger finished a close up third behind Mephisto at Goodwood last time and on seven pounds better terms has a chance of reversing the form. Grampian put up his best display of the season last time when fourth in a hot handicap at Haydock last month a should go close again today. It's The Limit has been crying out for this trip and should figure prominently off a handy looking weight. So as usual a very tricky contest, but from a plum draw, Mephisto is fully expected to land a huge ante post gamble.
