In depth

Verdict

EL MUQBIL created a strong visual impression when fourth on debut under a tender ride and he can go a few places better here. Not only do Brian Meehan's runners tend to improve for a run, the yard are flying, so with Richard Hills preferring this son of Medician to Edmaj the vibes are positive. Barry Hills does have a fine record on the Knavesmire so the latter can't be ignored, especially after a fine first run at Sandown when just ahead of a subsequent winner and the well-backed Star Of Dance. Flodden looks held by our selection so best of the twice-raced runners may be Moriarty, a horse who should appreciate stepping back up in trip after being beaten a short-head at Newbury, but it would be a slight surprise were something less-exposed not to improve past him. Terdaad is from a strong family and is closely related to a debut winner and fellow newcomer Ashva represents a yard returning to form after a winner here this week, while Tees and Cees, Ollon and Bahri Sheen are others who could contend a strong maiden.
