Red Bull duo backed ahead of Australian Grand Prix

Sky Bet's F1 betting expert Dave Pilgrim previews this weekend's Australian Grand Prix. Following Lewis Hamilton's comments regarding the outstanding pace of the Red Bull's in Bahrain, our customers have been keen to side with both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber ahead of the second round of the 2010 World Championships. We initially put Vettel in as the second favourite for victory in Australia behind Fernando Alonso, but such has been the weight of money over the past week, we are now joint favourites between the pair - offering 9/4 about both Vettel and Alonso. Lewis Hamilton is out to 7/1, while Felipe Massa can be backed at 5/1 and Webber at 7/1. In the Fastest Qualifier market, the Red Bull has shown just how hard it can work its tyres over a single lap, and Vettel looks sure to ring plenty more performance from his machine over a single lap this week, and the German is the clear 7/4 favourite in that market, while Alonso can be backed at 5/2, Massa is 11/2, while Webber is available at the same price and could be worth an each way shot for glory on Saturday.

Ordinary return

We have seen the Safety Car make an appearance in seven of the last ten years in Australia, so it's probably no surprise to see that eventuality priced at just 4/9, while Michael Schumacher will be hoping to improve on a pretty ordinary return by his own standards, and can be backed at 16/1 to win, the same price for Pole Position, and at 4/1 to get back onto the Podium. As an outside bet, look out for Robert Kubica or Adrian Sutil springing a surprise in Practice 1 - both were quick out of the blocks in Bahrain, and with plenty of teams working on their set-ups in the opening session, it would be no surprise to see one of the lesser fancied runners topping the time-sheets.
