The Brooklyn Nets hope to have Caris LeVert back this season after suffering a gruesome-looking foot injury on Monday night.

LeVert, who had been enjoying a fine start to the 2018-19 season, went down in agony after an awkward landing during Brooklyn's 120-113 defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Players from both sides were visibly distressed as LeVert was being treated on the court, with Nets players seen in tears as he was stretchered away.

But the Nets have confirmed his injury - a dislocated foot - will not require surgery and they offered a more upbeat report on his future on Tuesday.

"Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage," said team orthopaedist Dr Martin O'Malley.

"While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required.
