The Green Bay Packers came from 20-0 down to beat the Detroit Lions with a 61-yard touchdown after time had expired

Aaron Rodgers threw a 61-yard 'Hail Mary' touchdown pass to give Green Bay Packers a stunning 27-23 win at Detroit Lions in Thursday's NFL game.

The Packers looked beaten at 20-0 behind before mounting a comeback, and when a face mask penalty against Detroit gave Rodgers one last chance, he launched a huge throw which team-mate Richard Rodgers grabbed in an overloaded end zone.

The remarkable finish at Ford Field left Green Bay 8-4 and meant Aaron Rodgers passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns, while he also scored on a 17-yard scramble.

"It's the greatest feeling," said the Packers quarterback. "We're blessed to be able to play this game, and it reminds you at times how special this game is.

"I love what I do. I'm very fortunate to be a Green Bay Packer, and you live for days like this, to have a chance at the end and to have something miraculous happen."

Detroit (4-8), aided by Calvin Johnson's 15th career touchdown against the Packers, looked certain to complete a first sweep over their NFC North rivals in 24 years when they opened a 20-point lead in the third quarter.

But the visitors got back into it thanks to a bit of good luck as running back James Starks' fumble at the five-yard line bounced forward for Randall Cobb to grab in the end zone.
