Washington Redskins inflicted a first defeat of the season on a sloppy Oakland Raiders team, who went down 27-10, on Sunday Night Football.
Running back Chris Thompson was the standout performer for the home team, racking up 188 total yards, which included a 22-yard touchdown reception from Kirk Cousins in the first quarter.
That was the first of three TDs thrown by Cousins on the night as the Redskins cruised into a 21-0 lead early in the third quarter.
While the Raiders responded with a Derek Carr 21-yard connection to tight end Jared Cook to reduce it to a two-score game, neither team could manage more than field goals in the final quarter as Washington comfortably held on to an impressive victory over a much-fancied Oakland team.
The Redskins defence was also particularly impressive, picking off Carr twice and limiting the Raiders quarterback to just 118 total yards on 31 attempts.
