Former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas has died in a car accident. He was 36.

Police confirmed on Sunday morning that Bironas, who signed with the Titans in 2005 and played eight seasons in Nashville, was taken to Vanderbilt hospital and pronounced dead on arrival after losing control of his car.

Bironas' car was the only vehicle involved in the accident and police have said they don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Bironas was cut by the Titans in March 2014 and was in free agency. He was the top scorer in the Tennessee Titans/Houston Oilers franchise, scoring a record 35 field goals for the team in 2007.

He finished his career with an 85.7 career field goal percentage and a long of 60 yards.
