FINAL RESULT
So that is the end of an amazing game, the Giants were given no chance and yet somehow have produced one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.
It's an 11th consecutive road win for Tom Coughlin's team and we also have a victorious QB named Manning for the second successive year as Eli follows in his brother Peyton's footsteps.
His performance, and even more importantly his calm display on the game-winning drive, have seen Manning named MVP, just like his sibling was last time in Miami.
FOURTH QUARTER
IT IS NOW! We finally get the game finished with Pats coach Bill Belichick nowhere to be seen. He's already walked off to the locker room. The Giants are Super Bowl champions against all odds and now they can start the party, first duty of course being the Gatorade shower for the winning coach.
THEY THINK IT'S ALL OVER: The game is over as Brady fails to complete a fourth down pass aimed in Moss' direction. There is meant to be one second left on the clock but the two coaches have already shaken hands in the centre of the field. All hell has broken lose and we've still got one play to go.
TOUCHDOWN! What a finish! Manning lobs a pass up for Burress, who has been almost anonymous throughout the game, to just about catch in the back left corner of the end zone. The Giants are in front and now the Pats have 35 seconds to keep alive their hopes of completing a perfect season.
GREAT ESCAPE: Manning looks certain to be sacked by one of three New England linemen but somehow wriggles free to launch a speculative pass that David Tyree rises high to grab in traffic. The Giants are in range with 59 seconds on the clock.
LATE DRAMA: The Giants are attempting to win it all late, running on a fourth and one with Ahmad Bradshaw to keep alive their hopes of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. We have just over 90 seconds to play.
TOUCHDOWN! You just can't keep a good man down - two men in fact. Brady finds the otherwise quiet Randy Moss in the end zone to push the Pats back in front with just over two minutes to play. After struggling so much that was an excellent 12-play drive that spanned 80 yards.
MISSED CHANCE: Manning does well to wriggle away from a NE blitz but then fails to hit a wide open Burress who had half of Arizona to run into if he could have reeled in the catch. Instead, the Giants are forced to punt the ball back to their opponents after a short possession.
TOUCHDOWN! Boom! The Giants start the final quarter with a bang, Manning hitting David Tyree with a six-yard pass to put the men from the Big Apple in front. That is the receiver's first TD of the season. The key play in the scoring drive was a 45-yard pass to tight end Kevin Boss.
THIRD QUARTER
OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES: As we wind down the third quarter there is still no change to the score - at some point I'm hoping someone on either sideline remembers how to play offence. The Miami Dolphins' 14-7 win in 1972 is currently the lowest scoring Super Bowl game.
FATIGUE: The New York Giants defence are apparently battling cramp in the humid conditions. A supply of bananas was rushed into their dressing room at half time to give them some much-needed potassium.
GIANT STOP: Once again Brady finds himself under pressure in the pocket, rushing to get a throw off to Wes Welker that is short of the first down line. Another Patriot drive - the first of the second half - ends with a punt.
HALF TIME
Well while New England were expected to be in front few can have imagined they would have so much trouble moving the ball. Brady has so far completed just eight of 14 passes for 82 yards, while the Pats' high-powered offence has managed just 102 yards in total.
Thankfully Tom Petty & his Heartbreakers are on better form in the half-time show than the two offences in the game, belting out some classic tracks for the crowd.
SECOND QUARTER
FUMBLING TOM: Just as the Pats look set to strike before half-time Justin Tuck forces a fumble out of Brady, the Giants even managing to recover the loose ball. Manning sees a hail mary attempt fall incomplete on the final play of what has been an intriguing opening half in Arizona.
THREE-AND-OUTS: Both teams suffer three-and-out drives which saw each quarterback come under pressure. Brady was sacked twice by the Giants front four leaving his punter kicking from almost in the end zone.
INTERCEPTION: Eli Manning looks to be putting the Giants in range for a quick reply but the drive ends when Ellis Hobbs picks off a deflected pass in the red zone. That's the quarterback's first interception in the post season.
TOUCHDOWN! The Patriots need just one Laurence Maroney run to punch the ball in from the one-yard line. The extra point is good and it's 7-3 to New England. For the record, the two possessions in the first quarter is the lowest number in Super Bowl history.
FIRST QUARTER
PATRIOT GAMES: The first quarter comes to an end with the Patriots within a yard of the end zone following an impressive opening drive that is helped out by a defensive penalty when Benjamin Watson is denied the chance to catch a TD pass.
FIELD GOAL: Eli Manning manages to complete key third-down passes to Plaxico Burress and Steve Smith to keep the Giants' opening drive alive. It all ends after 15 plays in nearly 10 minutes with a field goal from Scottish-born kicker Lawrence Tynes. A good start for the underdogs and I'm sure the many thousands watching in Greenock are celebrating wildly at seeing their local boy come good.
INJURY: Randall Gay is deemed 'questionable' to return to the game after injuring his arm on the Giants' opening drive.
BELI-CHIC?: Patriots coach Bill Belichick is still sporting his sweater in the indoor arena, although this is a red sleveless number that will no doubt have all the fashion editors talking tomorrow morning.
KICK-OFF
The Giants get an early success as they win the toss and opt to receive. Referee Mike Carey, officiating in his first Super Bowl, gets us underway to a crescendo of noise and thousands of camera flashes.
INTRODUCTIONS
The two teams make their way out onto the field as kick-off fast approaches. The Giants - in their white kit - come out to 'Stronger' by Kanye West.
The Patriots, looking to complete the perfect season and attempting to lift the Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven seasons, arrive onto the field led by Tom Brady and Tedy Bruschi.
INJURY UPDATE
Plaxico Burress has been listed amongst the starters for the Giants despite struggling with an ankle injury. The receiver has been troubled throughout the season but has still been a key part of New York's offence.
PRE-GAME
Kick-off is fast approaching and the atmosphere inside the University of Phoenix Stadium is wonderful.
Alicia Keys has been providing the starter ahead of the main course, singing a wonderful set before walking off the field and having her picture taken with some of the players. Even before the biggest game in the season, maybe in a career, there's always time for a photo opportunity.
