Hurdler Lawrence Clarke will captain Great Britain at the European Indoor Championships in Prague next week.
Clarke, who has been hampered by injury since finishing fourth in the 110 metres hurdles at London 2012, is fit again and goes into the event as a strong medal contender in the 60m hurdles.
He replaces Greg Rutherford, who had been selected to lead the team but has since withdrawn to concentrate on the outdoor World Championships in Beijing this summer.
The Eton-educated athlete said in a statement: "It's an absolute privilege (to be captain).
"I've worked so hard for so many years to be a part of the team and to be honoured in this way is a great privilege.
"I feel very lucky that (British Athletics performance director) Neil Black has asked me to lead the team and hopefully it will be a very successful championship.
"Neil said my indoor season has been going very well and I had performed consistently at championships. He felt it was time in my career and that I could be an inspiration to some of the team."
