Asafa Powell runs world-leading time of 9.84 secs for 100m

Asafa Powell ran a world-leading time of 9.84 seconds as he won the 100 metres at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston on Saturday night.
Powell headed a strong field, with American Ryan Bailey in second in 9.93 secs ahead of another home runner in Nesta Carter, who clocked 9.98.
They were the first three times under 10 seconds in 2015, while fourth-placed Andrew Fisher matched Keston Bledman's previous world-leading mark of 10.01.
Nickel Ashmeade won the 200m but there were no Jamaican wins in the men's hurdles races, with Americans Aleec Harris and Bershawn Jackson successful over 110m and 400m respectively.
Elaine Thompson won the women's 100m ahead of Nigerian Blessing Okagbare and American Allyson Felix, while Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was third in the 200m behind Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas and American Tori Bowie.
Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogu was fifth in the 400m behind the United States Sanya Richards-Ross, who ran a time of 49.95 secs; Ohuruogu ran 51.48.
There was British success in the women's discus, courtesy of Jade Lally's throw of 59.90m, while Laura Samuel was third in the triple jump with 13.69m.
