Mo Farah ends absence to run in Athletissima event in Lausanne

Mo Farah returns to the track in Lausanne on Thursday for his first race since doping allegations about his coach Alberto Salazar were made.

Farah will take on six of the top seven in the world rankings over 5,000 metres this year in a race over that distance in Switzerland, with six Kenyans and seven Ethiopians taking him on in the Athletissima Diamond League event.

The 32-year-old, winner of the 5,000 and 10,000 metre Olympic titles at London 2012, has not raced in the six weeks since the BBC Panorama expose of Salazar.

Farah has been caught up in the doping storm despite none of the accusations made being about him, and he told Sky Sports News HQ's Jim White last week that claims he was a cheat were 'killing' him and his family.

He has vowed to dump Oregon-based Salazar if the allegations are proven, though, and has welcomed the investigations by UK Anti Doping and the US Anti-Doping Agency.

His comeback race will provide a good idea of his form ahead of the defence of his World Championship titles in Beijing next month, Farah having also claimed double victory in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres in Moscow in 2013.

Farah's opponents include Diamond League leaders Thomas Longosiwa of Kenya and Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia. whose compatriot Yomif Kejelcha is also in the field - he boasts the fastest time of 2015 so far.

The Briton is also due to race over 1,500 metres in Monaco on July 18 before taking in a 3,000 metres contest at the Sainsbury's Anniversary Games at London's Olympic Stadium on July 24.
