Olivia Breen and Louis Persent hope Sky can help their Rio dream

Paralympic sprinter Olivia Breen hopes her achievements can inspire others as she joined Sky Sports News on Friday.

Last Updated: 02/09/13 4:55am

Breen and fellow athlete Louis Persent are in the latest group of 12 Sky Scholars.

And Breen hopes she can fulfil her dreams of landing a gold medal in Rio in 2016 with the support from Sky.

"I want to get the gold in Rio," she said. "I want to get sport out there and inspire people and try to get them into sport."

Persent is also targeting success on the track in Rio after deciding to specialise in the 400 metres.

The 22-year-old from Colchester has shown great potential as a high jumper, a triple jumper and a decathlete.

He believes being part of the Scholar programme can also help him achieve his dream.

"We've both got three years and we've both got the same target in mind," he said.

"It's three years to work hard and with the support of Sky it changes everything really. It gives me the ability to just commit 100% to training and work harder every day to get to Rio."

Breen, who suffers from Cerebral palsy, believes the Sky's support will assist her athletics career in a number of different ways.

"I think it will really help with warm weather training, media training and also transport and nutritionally," she said.

"I've got Cerebral palsy so in the winter we get very stiff so I think it will help going away for warm weather training and I'm really excited I got the Sky Scholarship - it's really good."
