So my winter training has now started again. I had a really busy, but great summer.
I was lucky enough to be at the Anniversary Games, where I came third in the 100m, the Commonwealth Games where I came fourth in long jump narrowly missing a bronze by an annoying 4cms and the IPC European Championships, where I won a bronze in the 100m and a silver in the 4x100m relay.
I really enjoyed all the competitions and it felt so good to have all my hard work rewarded.
After that I took about four weeks off training. Whilst at the Commonwealth Games I had turned 18, so in my time off I had a party and was able to celebrate with my friends which was really fun. I used my time off catching up with lots of friends, relaxing, holidaying in Menorca and enjoying some treats!
I also attended the Sky Sports Studios for a celebration of the anniversary of the Sky Academy Sports Scholarships. It was a really inspiring day getting together with all the other scholars and their mentors.
Inspiring
The event was hosted by my mentor Di Doughty - she did such a great job and it was really lovely to see her again. Sir Chris Hoy spoke to us all and it was really inspiring to hear all about his journey and the highs and the lows he experienced.
Having had a really fun and relaxing time off, I am now back at Oaklands. I am nearly back to full training and really loving it. I’m living with some different people this year and there are lots of new athletes and other sports people which is fun.
I was delighted to find out that my scholarship at the Surrey Sports Park has been extended by another year. I use SSP for my strength and conditioning work and Jonas (my sprint coach) and SSP's James Wild work really well together so we are all really happy that the relationship is continuing.
I have also been made a young ambassador of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for children with cerebral palsy. It is a real honour for me as I attended their school at Ingfield Manor in Billingshurst when I was little. I went back there for a visit last week. The children there are so gorgeous and happy - it was a really special visit.
Anyway I am now off to the pool to do a recovery session after my hard hill training yesterday.
