Sky Academy Sports Scholarships: Olivia Breen basks in the sun during Tenerife training trip

So I am here in Tenerife enjoying some of the winter sunshine and finishing off my pre-Christmas winter training programme.
It has been a really good and productive few months. I have trained really hard and have managed to stay fit and healthy which I am really pleased about. This is largely thanks to my coaches Jonas and Julie and the regular sports therapy I receive from Keith Waldon at Up and Running in Portsmouth.
Just before leaving for Tenerife I had some blood tests done by British Athletics which showed that I was very vitamin D deficient so I am very happy to be here in Tenerife where the temperature is about 23 degrees. This is obviously helping to top up my vitamin D levels.
Thanks to the Sky Academy Sports Scholarship I am able to come to the sunshine during the winter which really helps my muscles which are really affected by the cold.
I am here with my parents and younger brother Jack who is training with me. Jack is nearly 14 and is crazy about rugby. He broke his hand a few weeks ago during a game of rugby so really wants to keep up his fitness whilst he can't play and it is great to have him to train with as he pushes me and it makes it more fun.
We leave Tenerife later today to come back to England where I understand it has been really cold. I'm not looking forward to the cold but it will be good to be home for Christmas and to celebrate with my family and friends.
I hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
