St Louis Cardinals restored parity in their National League Championship Series on Sunday with a 5-4 win over San Francisco Giants.

Cardinals rookie Kolten Wong was the hero, rounding off a comeback win in dramatic fashion with a walk-off home run to guide the hosts to victory in the second National League Championship Series match.

The Cardinals fell 3-2 behind, but rallied with home runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings against the Giants.

Wong, who celebrated his 24th birthday Friday, hit 12 home runs during the regular season and completed the fight-back in the final inning, recording the fourth Cardinals walk-off homer in playoff history.

St Louis’ victory means the best-of-seven series is locked 1-1, with the teams now heading to San Francisco for three games which get underway on Tuesday.

The win did come at a cost for the Cardinals, though, with catcher Yadier Molina suffering a muscle strain during the game.
