Stalwart forward Dirk Nowitzki has re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year deal after turning down offers from rival NBA franchises.
The 36-year-old German was a free agent but has chosen to re-sign for the only NBA franchise he has ever played for despite interest from the Houston Rockets and LA Lakers.
Nowitzki, who led the Mavericks to the 2011 NBA title, has reportedly taken a significant pay cut in order to free up money to sign other players, including free agent Chandler Parsons from Houston.
He was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player in 2007 when the Mavericks won a team-record 67 regular-season games and has made the All-Star team 12 times from 16 seasons.
Nowitzki has averaged 22.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in 1,188 career games for the Mavericks and ranks 10th on the NBA's all-time points list with 26,786.
