The Golden State Warriors survived a fourth quarter rally by the New York Knicks as they held on for a 106-92 win at Madison Square Garden.
Warriors forward Draymond Green scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but his side were forced to endure a nervy finale as New York fought back from a 26-point deficit in the third quarter.
During a frenetic fourth, the Warriors saw their lead slashed to five points and were forced to work for the win, with Stephen Curry ending on 22 points and six rebounds.
In New Orleans, Pau Gasol picked up 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Chicago Bulls in a 107-72 victory over the Pelicans.
Bulls forward Gasol was allowed to sit out the fourth quarter after opening a comfortable advantage, while Guard Derrick Rose also finished with 20 points for Chicago, who ended a three-game losing streak.
A nasty fall in the second quarter forced the Penguins to withdraw Anthony Davis and they struggled without their power forward, falling behind the free-scoring Bulls in the second and third quarters.
The Milwaukee Bucks claimed a tense 96-93 win over the Boston Celtics after Giannis Antetokounmpo continued his red-hot recent run.
Celtics forward Jae Crowder missed a three-point attempt as time expired, handing victory to Milwaukee and Antetokounmpo could savour his fourth double-double in his last five games, while team-mate Brandon Knight contributed 26 points.
