Former 76er Andre Iguodala returned to Philadelphia to end his old team's unbeaten start to the NBA season on Monday night.
Iguodala hit a career-high seven three-pointers and scored 32 points as the Golden State Warriors won 110-90.
Stephen Curry added 18 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for the Warriors who proved too strong for a young 76ers team who had exceeded all expectations so far.
Chris Paul piled up 23 points and 17 assists as the Los Angeles Clippers handed the Houston Rockets their first loss, 137-118, to leave the Indiana Pacers as the sole unbeaten team in the NBA.
JJ Redick led the Clippers with 26 points in an offensive shoot-out.
Earlier, the Minnesota Timberwolves had also lost their unbeaten record as they were edged out 93-92 by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Timberwolves fought back from 23 points down in the third quarter but could not find a way to tie it, with Kevin Love seeing a three-pointer miss in the final seconds.
The Boston Celtics remain winless after Jerryd Bayless scored all of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to see the Memphis Grizzlies over the line in a 95-88 victory.
The Celtics had led by six with a little under nine minutes to play.
