Russell Westbrook scored a team-high 37 points, including a deft spin move and finish at the rim, in the Oklahoma City Thunder's overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Damian Lillard poured in 51 points for Portland but Westbrook had the last laugh as the Thunder pulled away in overtime to record a 129-121 victory in a bad-tempered but thoroughly entertaining encounter.
Westbrook made 14 of his 28 shots, including five of his eight three-pointers, and scored five of the Thunder's first seven points on a three-pointer and two free throws in the extra session to give his team what proved to be a decisive lead.
Before that, Westbrook bamboozled the Blazers defense with a first-quarter highlight play.
The Thunder stole possession in their own half through Steven Adams who immediately funneled the ball to Westbrook.
Thursday night's scores
- Indiana Pacers 98-117 Milwaukee Bucks
- Oklahoma City Thunder 129-121 Portland Trail Blazers (OT)
The Oklahoma City All-Star dribbled up the left wing and advanced towards the paint, backing into Lillard before executing a delightful spin move that granted him an unopposed finger roll finish at the rim.
