Jonas Valanciunas to miss rest of Memphis Grizzlies season

Memphis center Jonas Valanciunas will miss the rest of the season after suffering a Grade 2 right ankle sprain in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Grizzlies said that Valanciunas will not need surgery. Valanciunas was injured in the third quarter of the game while batting for a rebound.
Memphis acquired Valanciunas from the Toronto Raptors in February as part of the return for center Marc Gasol. He averaged 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds in 19 games (17 starts) with the team.
The 26-year-old Lithuanian had a streak of six straight double-doubles snapped when he left Sunday's game with the injury. One night earlier, he scored a career-best 34 points and collected 20 rebounds in a win over the Phoenix Suns.
Prior to the trade, Valanciunas averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in 30 games (10 starts) for Toronto.
Valanciunas has career averages of 12.1 points and 8.5 rebounds in seven NBA seasons.
