Dillian Whyte marked his comeback from shoulder surgery with a workmanlike stoppage win over Ivica Bacurin.

The Brixton man had injured his shoulder in that dramatic defeat to Anthony Joshua last December and showed signs of ring rust before a big right hand ended Bacurin's resistance in the sixth round at The O2.

Pumping out his jab, Whyte patiently stalked Bacurin in the first round and found the range with an overhand right before the bell.

Bacurin continued to back away in the second round and Whyte missed wildly with a left hook as he slashed away at his slippery opponent.

The Croatian was warned for holding in the third and Whyte, growing increasingly frustrated, also received a telling off for a stray elbow in the fourth.

Into the fifth, Whyte stepped up his assault and finally landed his right with regularity as Bacurin stumbled backwards by the ropes.

Whyte found faults in his victory over Bacurin

Whyte charged across the ring to start the sixth and ripped an uppercut through Bacurin's defences before an overhand right dumped him on the bottom rope.

With the referee watching on, Bacurin remained on his knees, and the fight was waved off to signal Whyte's winning return.
