Scott Quigg promises he's back stronger than ever after breaking his jaw in a first professional defeat to Carl Frampton in February

Scott Quigg would welcome a fight with WBA champion Nehomar Cermeno as he considers options for his next fight.

The Bury man has recovered from the broken jaw he suffered in his first professional defeat to Carl Frampton in February and is expected to fight again in November.

An opponent is yet to be named for Quigg, who could follow Frampton up to featherweight after the Belfast man's superb victory over Leo Santa Cruz earned him the WBA featherweight belt in July.

But Quigg would also be interested in a possible shot at Cermeno for his old WBA 'regular' super-bantamweight title, two years after a planned fight between the pair fell apart due to visa problems.

He told Sky Sports: "Coming off a loss, you would think the options would dry up, but I've got some big fights at featherweight that we have been offered and we're looking at, and also there is a world title fight at super-bantamweight.

"There are plenty of options, but it's just about making the right decision, whether to move up or to stay at super-bantam."

Referring to Cermeno, Quigg said: "I was supposed to fight him once before and it never materialised I think due to visa problems at the time. It's a world title fight, so I would snap their hand off for it.

"It's just about making the decision for me body-wise. I've been making super-bantam for 10 years now. I believe I can still make it, but it's just making sure it doesn't take anything out of me."

WBA president Gilberto Mendoza revealed that Cermeno has expressed a willingness to defend against Quigg if the Venezuelan defeats Anurak Thisa later this month.

"That fight had to happen a long time ago, but it's funny, now the roles have changed," Mendoza told Sky Sports. "Now the regular champion is Cermeno and Quigg will be the challenger.

"Quigg will have a better chance to face Nehomar Cermeno. Guillermo Rigondeaux (WBA super champion) and Moises Flores are negotiating to fight now and then after they are supposed to fight Cermeno. But in the meantime, Cermeno has a commitment to fight in September against a Thai opponent in China.

"If he's the winner, he would like to fight Quigg."
