Ohara Davies to face Willie Limond on Ricky Burns undercard
Friday 2 September 2016 16:56, UK
Rising super-lightweight Ohara Davies will fight former Erik Morales, Amir Khan and Anthony Crolla opponent Willie Limond on October 7.
Hackney's Davies (12-0-KO10) moved up to the 140lb division in his last bout, a fifth-round stoppage of the previously-unbeaten Zoltan Szabo at London's York Hall.
In facing Limond (39-5-KO11), Davies takes another step up against a Scot who will enjoy the support of his fellow Glaswegians on the undercard of Ricky Burns' WBA world super-lightweight title defence against Kiryl Relikh.
The prospect does not appear to faze the 24-year-old known as 'Two Tanks', though, and he delivered a typically entertaining interview to Sky Sports ahead of the bout.
Davies said: "It's definitely a step up. I've gone up in weight class, in my boxing ability and skill. I've been getting a lot better. It's a step up but I don't think it's going to be a hard fight.
"I think it'll be fairly easy. I think I'll find this fight easier than my previous fight. I'm in such good shape now - the fittest I've ever been, so I'm ready to go in there and clean him out and have a holiday.
"I've never met him. I'd never even heard of him before I found out I was going to fight him. Then I Googled him and found out he'd fought Amir Khan and Erik Morales but that doesn't matter because he hasn't faced me.
"He hasn't got that many knockouts on his record and I'll give him a goodbye message by knocking him out. Then I think he'll retire for good."
Limond was last in action challenging for the British title, falling to a ninth-round stoppage defeat to Tyrone Nurse having made an encouraging start to the fight.
Davies, who held the English title at lightweight, has sparred countless rounds with Burns.
