Gennady Golovkin is promising drama against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez

Gennady Golovkin doesn't believe Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will have any issues making weight for Saturday's world title fight in Las Vegas.

Alvarez has bulked up as he makes the move from light-middleweight to middleweight and renowned trainer Freddie Roach is among those to voice their concerns over his size.

However, Golovkin told Sky Sports News that he thinks Alvarez will have no problem coming in under the 160lb limit at Friday's weigh-in.

"I know him a long time," he said. "He is the same size as me and has the same power.

"He was ready a long time ago to come up to 160. I don't know why he didn't come up. Right now, he is ready."

Golovkin was taken the distance by Daniel Jacobs in his last fight but he would not be drawn on whether he thought Saturday's highly-anticipated fight would go 12 rounds.

"With Jacobs I had good a boxing experience, I had 12 rounds," said Golovkin, who believes this could be the "first step" towards a trilogy of fights against Alvarez.
