'Cobra' says there is 'no interest' in a fight with light-heavyweight champ
Carl Froch said there is 'no interest' in a fight with WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly.
The former WBC super-middleweight title holder gave up the belt to Andre Ward in a clear-cut points loss to the American in December.
Having fought most of the top men at 168lb in the World Super Six, many had questioned whether Froch was ready to step up to challenge the Welshman in what would be a big domestic fight.
But Nottingham's 'Cobra' told Sky Sports there were still many bigger nights still to be had in the super-middleweight division.
"Nobody's interested in talk about me stepping up to light-heavyweight to fight Nathan Cleverly," he said.
"It's boring, there's big fights for me - Mikkel Kessler, Lucien Bute, there's more names I could roll off the tongue that would make people interested.
"We want to be fighting in Nottingham for a nice steady comeback fight, I don't have easy fights but I'll have a nice steady comeback and then look to challenge for a world title very soon."
Froch suffered only the second defeat of his career against the slick Ward last month, and admitted a return fight does not make sense at this time.
"I dont think anybody's going to beat him," he said. "There's no excuses, he beat me on the night.
"If i had a rematch with him tactically it would be a totally different fight. If we got the rematch - I cant see it happening to be honest but you never know."
