Kell admits 'Money' match is a couple of years away

Kell Brook says he's ready to fight Amir Khan this year, but not Floyd Mayweather Jr. Brook headlines a huge Sky Sports bill in Sheffield on March 17 when he takes on Matthew Hatton. And the 25-year-old Sheffield sensation (26-0 as a pro) has his eyes on some massive fights if he can come through that tough test. A fight with British rival Khan would be a huge domestic event, and Brook is confident he'd come out on top. But he admits he's not ready yet for the rarefied atmosphere of fighting P4P superstars like Mayweather Jr. When Khan's name was mentioned he told Boxing News: "I'm ready for that fight this year. I could take on Amir Khan any time and I believe I'd beat him. He's just got to say: 'Come on, let's do it,' and it's on.

Timing

"Khan has fast hands and power but he can be hurt. He can be stopped. We've set that before in his career. And timing is everything in boxing. Timing and accuracy beats speed every time. "When I hit him hard and consistently, Khan is going down. I know I've got his number." When talk moves to Mayweather Jr, Brook is not nearly so brash, admitting he has plenty to learn before he can move in those sort of circles. "I'd love to fight Mayweather one day. But he's the best in the world by a long way and there's no doubt he'd beat Pacquiao," he said "So I'm a couple of years from being ready for Mayweather but that would be a dream fight for me." Of course before Brook can even start to plan megafights down the road he has to overcome Hatton first in a domestic dust-up that has really captured the imagination of UK fight fans. And Kell knows he'll be in deep against a man who took Mexican sensation Saul Alvarez the distance at light-middleweight. "A fighter like Matthew doesn't think he's going to turn up and lose, does he? He really fancies his chances. I don't know if it's because his brother is Ricky Hatton, but I sense Matthew wants to prove something. he wants to make his own name and that's why he's dangerous."
