Matchroom Sport have confirmed that Carl Froch will make the first defence of his IBF super-middleweight title in Nottingham on November 17. Froch will return to the Capital FM Arena in his home town six months after ripping the belt from champion Lucian Bute with a fifth round stoppage. The 'Cobra's opponent will be revealed on Tuesday week. "The Bute fight night will go down in history as one of the greatest nights in British boxing history," said Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn. "Carl is chomping at the bit to get back into the ring and feel the roar of the Nottingham fans that he loves so much." The fight is likely to give Froch the rare opportunity of a relatively easy night's work after several years fighting at the highest level. He has already pencilled in a re-match with Bute in Canada for next spring followed by a likely late summer date with another old foe, Mikkel Kessler.
