Gavin McDonnell saw his twin brother Jamie become a world champion last year and is desperate to follow in his footsteps.
Having joined Jamie in teaming up with trainer Dave Coldwell, McDonnell knows defending his European strap against France's Parodi is a must if he is to graduate quickly to world level.
Parodi is best known for a 2013 sixth-round stoppage defeat to current IBF world champion Carl Frampton, but he has bounced back with back-to-back points victories and remains a genuine threat to McDonnell's plans.

Gavin has propelled himself up in a short space of time and he's already been involved in some great fights. I am impressed with him and it's great for Yorkshire - and that's what I'm a part of too.
Gavin would have looked at his brother go out to the States and fight for world titles and he'll think, 'if he can do it, so can I'. That's what brothers always believe. Every brother thinks, 'if our kid can do it, I can do it'.

The weigh-in came and went without major incident, with both fighters comfortably inside the super-bantamweight limit of 8st 10lb.
Both men have also displayed respect to each other in the build-up to the fight, and no words appeared to be exchanged during the face-off.
