Joshua vs Klitschko: Charles Martin wins on return and says he was injured before Anthony Joshua fight

Former IBF world heavyweight champion Charles Martin stopped Byron Polley in the second round of his return to the ring on Tuesday.

'The Prince' had not boxed for just over a year since losing his IBF world heavyweight crown to Anthony Joshua after being shot in his forearm in August.

Martin moved to 26-1-KO24 with a straightforward stoppage of Polley at the Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel, Tunica, Mississippi, but also said that he was injured before his showdown with Joshua.

"I wasn't 100 per cent," he told BoxingScene.com.

For this week’s Ringside Rewind we look back at this time last year when Anthony Joshua beat Charles Martin to become the IBF heavyweight world champion

"I got hurt prior to the fight, so I couldn't perform. My head wasn't in the game. I couldn't perform. I was hurt."

Martin expects to see Joshua defeat Wladimir Klitschko in their Wembley Stadium showdown on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
