ABC News reporter Sarah Hancock is interrupted as a truck carrying hay crashed into the finish line at the Tour Down Under cycling event

A truck carrying hay crashed into the finish line towards the end of the opening stage of the 2018 Women's Tour Down Under cycling race.

ABC News reporter Sarah Hancock was interrupted while on camera as the truck raced past before taking out the inflatable finish line in Gumeracha, Australia.

The reporter covered her ears as the truck drove past before turning around to witness the incredible scene behind her.

A spectator, holding a pink umbrella, was visibly startled as the lorry carried the inflatable away down the road as it followed a number of cyclists.

The inflatable arch became stuck to the top of the vehicle, before the driver eventually brought it to a safe stop.
