Wahoo Fitness

Last Updated: 09/02/16 9:48am

Expanding their relationship with Team Sky, Wahoo Fitness become our Official Supplier of Bike Trainers and Heart Rate Monitors for 2016.

Wahoo Fitness, the world leader in smartphone-powered fitness hardware, has extended its successful partnership with Team Sky for a third year through 2016. The deal sees the expansion of Wahoo's relationship to now become the Official Supplier of Bike Trainers and Heart Rate Monitors to Team Sky.

This means that the team will now use the Wahoo TICKR to track their heart rate data, alongside the KICKR which has been used for the last two seasons for race-day warm up and cool down, as well as indoor and home training throughout the season.

Head of Technical Operations and Commercial for Team Sky, Carsten Jeppesen said, "Wahoo's KICKR is a best-in-class product that gives us exactly what we need for both indoor training programmes and race-day warm-up and cool-down. With heart rate data continuing to be of the utmost importance, the addition of the TICKR to our training will give us the reliability and accuracy to use that data in the most effective way."

Chip Hawkins, CEO and Founder of Wahoo added, "Team Sky continues to be an excellent partner for us - from gathering rider feedback on our products, to working collaboratively on future innovations, the team shares our absolute passion for taking performance training hardware to the next level, and 2016 will be no different."

"Team Sky and Wahoo share a common approach when it comes to innovation and continuous improvement. We believe they have developed a market-leading product and we are excited about using the KICKR in the team and working with Wahoo to continue to develop and improve their products. We love the wheel-off design and the big flywheel that gives an excellent, smooth feel. The ability to precisely control the resistance, whilst retaining the smoothness, gives us the opportunity to do great quality and high intensity training efforts on the KICKR," said Tim Kerrison, Team Sky's Head of Performance Support.

Using Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+ technology, the KICKR Power Trainer connects to iOS and Android phones and tablets, BTLE Macbooks, and Windows PCs, allowing full resistance control during your training session. While pedaling, users can increase or decrease resistance, structure interval workouts or even simulate real world bike courses all from their device. Resistance adjustments are instant, making it easy to replicate everything from a flat or rolling hill course, to the coast down a hill after a hard climb.  With a wheel off design and super flywheel, the Wahoo KICKR bike trainer is engineered to produce an ultra-realistic road feel, equivalent to the inertia of an actual rider on the road. A direct power measurement at the hub provides consistent and lab accurate power readings for every grueling mile.

The TICKR heart rate monitor connects to your smartphone, tablet, bike computer or sports watch using Bluetooth 4.0 or ANT+ technology.  The TICKR features LED indicator lights to inform the user of device connectivity and battery status.  Lastly, the TICKR works with over 100 cycling, running and fitness Apps on both Android and iPhone.
