A look at Raymond van Barneveld's Premier League career and his last night in the competition.

Sky Sports Darts remembers Raymond van Barneveld's 14-year association with the Premier League after he announced his intention to retire from darts with immediate effect.

The five-time world champion fell to a 7-1 defeat against countryman Michael van Gerwen in front of a passionate Dutch crowd at the Ahoy Arena, before he revealed he could no longer perform at the highest level and would not seek to qualify for the World Championship later this year.

Van Barneveld was already eliminated from this year's Premier League after defeat to Daryl Gurney on Wednesday but there was hope he could rediscover some of his best darts to challenge reigning world champion Van Gerwen.

The five-time world champion's significance to Dutch sport was clear to see as he received a rousing ovation from the packed crowd before and after his defeat.

Barney, as he is fondly known, won the Premier League in 2014, landed two nine-darters and has overtaken Phil Taylor with the record for most matches in the tournament's history.
